Hydraulic system enhances agricultural equipment

A comprehensive range of agricultural equipment is now available from agricultural equipment supplier Northmec. This includes the Sitrex Magnum pull-type rakes, which have a double hydraulic system for enhanced efficiency, even on rough and uneven grounds.

“The Magnum pull-type rake, which is the biggest model in the Sitrex V-rake pull-type line, is designed to obtain a maximum working width of 8,7 m and windrows with variable widths from 0,9 m to 1,8 m,” says Northmec director of retail business Johan van der Merwe.

Northmec, which is a CSE Equipment Company, was established in 1869 and is the oldest supplier of agricultural machinery in South Africa.

“A double hydraulic system, which is tractor driven, controls both the lift of the wheels and machine, enabling total or partial opening and closing. A locking valve is mounted on the hydraulic cylinder to maintain the required working width. Even in the case of a pipe breaking, the machine remains in the same position which has been set,” van der Merwe says.

Couplings for various frame components are flexible to obtain the maximum adjustment of the machine on very rough and uneven grounds. The drawbar and opening system are mounted over the wheels, which enables the machine to make a windrow without obstructions.

All rake wheels are independently spring-load lifted to allow the machine to follow the ground contours. Tines, which are made of special steel with seven-milimeter diameter, pick up the hay making fluffy windrows suitable for baling.

Northmec’s national branch network also supplies a full range of agricultural equipment that includes Case combine harvesters, Case tractors, Welger balers, Storti feedmixers, Jacto spraying equipment, Lely silage machines and Baldan ploughing equipment.

The company also has a specialised spares and implements division that supplies a comprehensive range of quality branded original equipment and replacement parts. Operator and mechanic training is provided.
